ARDESTO Recommendations for Choosing a Freezer
The range of household freezer equipment is quite wide, so it is easy to get confused among the variety of offers. With this in mind, ARDESTO provides comprehensive information on the main criteria for choosing freezing equipment using the example of its own models: URM-85M60, FRM-200ECM, FRM-145MCH, FRM-145ECM, FRM-250MCH and FRM-200E.
Freezers Types
Before choosing a freezer, first of all, you need to decide on the type of its design – a separately installed model or built-in – and the loading method: vertical, as in the URM-85M60 model, or horizontal – chest freezers.
Useful Volume
The useful volume is the most important indicator, which directly depends on the amount of products placed in the freezer.
FRM-200ECM and FRM-200E chest freezers have a useful volume of 198 l, and FRM-250MCH – 249 l. For somewhat more modest needs, there are smaller models, for example: FRM-145MCH and FRM-145ECM for 142 l or vertical freezer cabinet URM-85M60 with a volume of 60 l.
Climate Class
It will also not hurt to pay attention to the climate class. This parameter determines the ambient temperature at which the device will work in full mode.
In general, there are four climatic classes of freezer equipment:
- N (normal: from +16 °С to +32 °С);
- SN (subnormal: from +10 °С to +32 °С);
- Т (tropical: from +18 °С to +43 °С);
- ST (subtropical: from +18 °С to +38 °С).
Most models have a combined class, for example SN-T, which makes them more versatile. Currently, multi-class models that function in four temperature modes are in demand: SN, N, ST, T.
ARDESTO freezers have four climate classes, with the exception of FRM-145MCH (N, SN, ST) and URM-85M60 – two classes (N, ST).
Control Type
If the model has mechanical control, then this indicates that it is equipped with a standard temperature regulator – a rotary handle with an indicator. But devices with electronic control have much wider functionality: more precise adjustment thanks to buttons and a digital display. Error codes, that inform about technical problems, are also shown on the display, which makes it possible to find out and eliminate the malfunction much faster.
Freezing Range
In the instructions, and sometimes on the device body, this parameter is indicated by stars (snowflakes), the number of which indicates the freezing effectiveness in the temperature range. These can be the following values:
- * – the model can maintain a temperature of up to -6 °C. Under such conditions, products are stored for no more than a week.
- ** – the freezer can provide a temperature of up to -12 °C: products will be stored for a month.
- *** – the vast majority of models have this mark: the temperature in the freezer will be up to -18 °C, so products can be stored for up to 3 months.
- **** – the temperature in the freezer drops below -18 °C. You can safely leave products frozen for 1 year.
IMPORTANT: some ARDESTO freezers, in particular FRM-145MCH, FRM-145ECM, FRM-200E and FRM-200ECM, can be used as a refrigerator if necessary, by setting the temperature between 0 °C and +10 °C. So you can have the functionality of two devices for the price of one!
Energy Efficiency
Modern chest freezers or cabinets usually belong to class A and differ among themselves only in the number of «pluses»: the higher their number (A+, A++ or A+++), the more efficient the model is in terms of electricity consumption. You can also take as a guide another parameter given in the freezers instructions – consumption in 1 year.
All models of the brand, in particular, have an A+ energy efficiency class, and the annual electricity consumption is shown in the table below.
Noise Level
A household appliance, which noise level does not exceed 45 dB, is considered quiet enough for home use. So, for example, the noise level in the library is 40 dB.
All ARDESTO freezers operate in the range of 40 to 42 dB, so they do not cause discomfort to users.
